“It’s always useful to ward off those fightbacks by the other teams because it helps you to be strong. But I just feel that you can’t keep on testing yourself,” ROS coach Yeng Guiao said.
After dropping their initial game against Talk ‘N Text, 89-86, the Elasto Painters were able to eke out close victories against NLEX, 96-91, and GlobalPort, 104-98. However, Guiao believes that Rain or Shine should chalk up more decisive victories in the future.
“You’ve got to win some comfortable games too,” he said.
Guiao said that he really believes those close affairs could fasttrack his squad’s feel for the game, something he admitted has not been there for his crew.
“We’re hoping that being able to carve out these wins might help us gain our rhythm, which we’re still looking for right now,” he said.
It’s going to be another tough outing for his wards as the E-Painters hope to make it three wins in a row against a surging Meralco crew on Tuesday at the Smart-Araneta Coliseum.
Game time is at 4:15 p.m.
The Bolts are aiming for their best franchise start with a fourth win in a row. So far, they have impressed, scoring convincing wins over Ginebra, Kia, and Talk ‘N Text.
A veteran of numerous wars, coach Norman Black is just elated with this strong start.
“We’re having the best start this franchise has ever seen. It’s a good start for us considering this is a very short conference, but we’ll take it,” he said.
The Grand Slam-winning coach knows the challenge that Rain or Shine poses, saying, “I know we’re experiencing this success, but I also know that things won’t get any easier for us at this point.” (RL)
