The quartet are all siblings from the Evasco-Otic family.
The name of the REO Brothers was derived from:
- R – the first letters of their first name;
- E – their middle initial, Evasco, their mother’s maiden name;
- O – the first letter of their family name, Otic.
Who would have thought that after their family barely survived the wrath of Supertyphoon Yolanda (international name Haiyan) last November 8, 2013, these four brothers from Tacloban would make it big?
The group even has gained acclaim not just from the global Filipino community, but also foreigners. People love them not out of pity, but because of their musical talents.
Reo: An Inspiring Journey from Ruins to Rockstardom
Raymart, who was in typhoon-devastated Tacloban, got the chance to communicate with his other siblings residing in Manila through social media two days after the typhoon hit. The Otic family in Tacloban was left penniless, so the siblings immediately decided to bring the whole family to Manila.
The brothers only brought their guitars, a few clothes, some biscuits, a gallon of water, and some candies to tide over their 2-day trip in a bus driven by their brother-in-law to reach Manila.
They stayed in a small apartment and made Quezon City their temporary home. After a week, their musical career slowly began to take shape when they communicated with a friend and promptly performed gigs after gigs.
With more and more people noticing and appreciating their music, the rest, as they say, is history.

The Reo Brothers also became the first Filipino musicians to perform at the historic Cavern Club in Liverpool, England, birthplace of the famous British band, The Beatles:
“It was a dream come true,” RJ told ABS-CBN Europe, “especially at the Cavern where we performed. And it’s where The Beatles started, where they became famous, and we stood on the same stage.”
Now, “The Beatles of the Philippines” has already performed concerts around the world including California, New York, Birmingham, London, and Tokyo.
Because of the love for their family, dedication, hardwork, staying humble, and keeping themselves grounded, anything is possible for these rockstar siblings!
